Helping with Bikes is a program under Helping with Furniture, a registered charity in Ottawa. They accept donated bikes in any condition, fully refurbish them with a team of experienced mechanics, and provide them to client families as an affordable means of transportation. You can't walk in and buy a bike — they work through referrals — but they're always looking for bike donations.
Every donated bike gets whatever work it needs — from a little TLC to a total overhaul — so that every recipient gets a clean, fully functional bike that's practically new. A $44 donation covers the cost of refurbishing one bike, including parts, helmets, locks, and bells.
